Changing Milwaukee: How Will You Lead?

Global Youth Service Day 2012 is
April 20th -- 22nd!

Global Youth Service Day is an annual campaign that celebrates and mobilizes the millions of children and youth who improve their communities each day of the year through community service and service-learning.  GYSD is the largest service event in the world and is celebrated in over 100 countries. On GYSD, children and youth address the world’s most critical issues in partnership with families, schools, community and faith-based organizations, businesses, and governments.

In Milwaukee, nearly 40 projects will be carried-out by more than 25 schools and organizations.  Nearly 1,400 young people between the ages of 5 and 25 will participate!

GYSD Video Competition
Individuals or teams registered to participate in Milwaukee’s GYSD 2012 are invited to create a video that tells your service story!  It can be a documentary of your project, a video journal reflection, original song or music video… the possibilities are endless!  Submit your video for the chance to win $500 to be donated to the school or non-profit organization of your choice!  Join us for the “GYSD Red Carpet Celebration of Service” on Sunday May 20th, from 1-3 p.m. at Discovery World for a screening of all the entries and the announcement of the winning video. Get information about contest eligibility and how to submit your video, and a Video Resource Guide with helpful tips about how to make your video by following these links; or contact William Malone at 414-286-5894 or william.malone@milwaukee.gov.
