Carnegie Hero Fund Commision Award Presented to John and Joel Rechlitz

A representative of the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission presented the Carnegie medal to John and Joel Rechlitz.The presentation took place on February 17^th at the MFD’s Training Academy. 

The Carnegie medal is awarded to “A civilian who voluntarily risks his or her own life, knowingly, to an extraordinary degree while saving or attempting to save the life of another person.” John and Joel Rechlitz were off duty when they heroically helped to rescue David J. Harper from a burning vehicle on July 19, 2009.
