Gary J. Gacek
Captain of Police
Appointed: August 13, 1990
Captain Gary Gacek is currently assigned to the Technical Communications Division, which is responsible for citywide emergency and non-emergency call taking and dispatching.
Captain Gacek is a life long resident of Milwaukee. After graduating from Pulaski High School in 1990, he was appointed to the Milwaukee Police Department as a Police Aide. In September 1993, Captain Gacek was appointed to Police Officer and upon graduating from the police academy he served at District Four. In February 1998, he was promoted to Police Sergeant and served at District Two, Personnel Division, and Internal Affairs. In July 2005, he was promoted to Lieutenant of Police and served at District Seven, District Three, the Office of Management, Analysis and Planning (OMAP), Background Investigation Section, and Internal Affairs. In July 2009 he was promoted to Captain of Police and served as the commanding officer of OMAP and The North Investigations Division.
Captain Gacek earned an Associate Degree in Police Science from the Milwaukee Area Technical College (1995), a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Cardinal Stritch University (2005), a graduate certificate in Law Enforcement Leadership and Management from Marquette University (2007), a graduate certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia (2007), and a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Marquette University (2009). Captain Gacek is also a graduate of the 231st Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Captain Gacek is married and has two sons.
