Captain of Police

Captain of Police Michael Young has been in law enforcement since March of 1981 when he began his career with the Grafton, Wisconsin Police Department. He joined the Milwaukee Police Department in September of 1984. His Police Officer experience was gained at District Five. He then served in the Criminal Investigation Bureau from July of 1990 through March of 2009. He served as a Detective, Lieutenant and Captain in the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Captain Young worked in Property Crimes, Violent Crimes and Homicide as a Detective and Lieutenant. Ten years of his service was in the Intelligence Division as both a Lieutenant and a Captain. He served as the Captain of the Milwaukee HIDTA, a drug and gang task force, for approximately 14 months.

Captain Young has been the Captain at District Six since March of 2009. Captain Young finds his current assignment at District Six as the most gratifying assignment of his 29 years in law enforcement. He enjoys providing quality policing services to the citizens of the Sixth District. Captain Young lives within one mile of the Sixth District Station.

Captain Young is married with one daughter. Captain Young possesses a Bachelor of Arts Degree obtained in May of 1980 from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with majors in Social Work and Sociology. He obtained a Masters of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee in 1998 with a major in Criminal Justice with a Management and Administration specialty. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command.
