Jerome O’Leary
Captain of Police
District 4
Captain Jerome O’Leary was promoted to Captain of Police in March of 2009. He is currently assigned to the Fourth District, which comprises approximately 28.8 square miles and serves nearly 70,000 residents.
Captain O’Leary joined the Milwaukee Police Department as a Police Aide in January 1985. Once becoming a Police Officer he worked in District Three, Seven and the Prisoner Processing Section.
During his career he received promotions to the ranks of Sergeant and Lieutenant. As a Sergeant he worked at District Four, the Gang Crimes Section, the Intelligence Division, Patrol Support, Background Investigations and the Vice Control Division. Once promoted as a Lieutenant he worked at Districts Four and One.
Captain O’Leary holds a B.A. Degree in Public Administration and completed additional training in Leadership in Police Organizations and Senior Management for Police.
Captain O’Leary strives to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Milwaukee by practicing problem oriented policing principles and formulating proactive strategies using the latest crime data to reduce crime, fear and disorder in our community.
