Night Parking Regulations
There is no parking on city streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday unless a vehicle has an Overnight Parking Permit or Temporary Night Parking Permission. License plate readers are used to verify permit and check temporary permissions.
Alternate Side Parking
Most residential streets limit parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. to one side of the street on an alternating basis throughout the year with a valid Overnight Parking Permit or Temporary Night Parking Permission. On even-numbered calendar days (before midnight) a vehicle with a valid overnight permit or temporary permission must be legally parked on the side of the street with even house numbers; on odd-numbered calendar days (before midnight) a vehicle must be parked on the side of the street with odd house numbers. A valid Overnight Parking Permit or Temporary Night Parking Permission is required.
On certain days, an Overnight Parking Permit or Temporary Overnight Parking Permission is not needed between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. These exceptions are:
1. Sunday mornings
2. Morning of the day and morning of the day following: New Year's Day (January 1st and January 2nd), Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
3. Parking is permitted for a period not to exceed one hour in the same block in which a business establishment licensed by the City is open for business between 2 A.M. and 6 A.M.
Streets that are exempt from alternate side parking rules are listed at Winter Parking Regulations-Not Posted or review the map below. During a DPW Operation or Snow Emergency vehicles must follow alternate side parking between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m on these streets. Text and email alerts are available by signing up for SnowMobile through the eNotify system.
Green = Parking allowed on both sides of the street for up to 48 hours with a valid night parking permit, except when a DPW Operation or Snow Emergency has been called. Exceptions include through highway streets and bus routes that do not allow overnight parking Dec. 1 to Mar. 1.
Blue = Parking allowed on both sides of the street for up to 24 hours with a valid night parking permit, except from December 1 through March 1 and when a DPW Operation or Snow Emergency has been declared.
If your street is not highlighted, standard alternate side parking rules would apply.
No vehicles may be parked in an alley overnight. Vehicles parked anytime in an alley must leave at least 15 feet of clearance for other traffic. Violators may be towed.
