Public Health

The City of Milwaukee Health Department offers a variety of services and resources on health-related issues including communicable disease, chemical emergencies, radiation emergencies, bioterrorism, and exposure to dirty bombs. The Public Health department works to prevent illness and injury by implementing healthy behavior, teaching citizens about ways to stay safe, and setting standards to protect workers and citizens. An example would be vaccinations for illness or programs to enforce healthy eating habbits. Public health works to track disease outbreaks, prevent injuries, and shed light on why some of us are more likely to suffer from health issues than others.
