Mayor Barrett to Host Community Walks as Part of 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge
August 17, 2015
With 23 days to go in his Walk 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge, Mayor Tom Barrett is inviting all area residents to join him at free community walks throughout the city.
“I encourage people of all ages to lace up their walking shoes and work physical activity into their daily routines,” said Mayor Barrett. “Last year, Milwaukee residents logged more than 26,000 miles during our inaugural 100 Miles challenge. Whether you started with us on day one, or are just starting now, register online, track your miles, and help us beat last year’s totals.”
The Walk 100 challenge comes as health experts nationwide have released studies highlighting the severe health consequences of sitting and sedentary lifestyles. By logging in and tracking your miles on the Walk 100 website, participants can earn the chance to win prizes from local supporters.
