NEWS FROM THE MAYOR
Dear Friends,
This week I had the honor to participate in an announcement with Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Governor Jim Doyle, Congresswoman Gwen Moore and Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz for a new high speed rail line that will be constructed between Milwaukee and Madison. I am very excited about this project, because it will create new connections for businesses, researchers and travelers. More importantly, this project will create thousands of new construction jobs and will help the City of Milwaukee attract and retain jobs.

This project speaks volumes of the power of partnerships that I have worked to develop here at the City of Milwaukee. As Mayor I have made an effort to work for collaborative solutions with other governmental units, businesses and non-profit organizations to not only help grow jobs in the City, but also within the region. The high speed rail project is another example of how collaborative efforts benefit us all.
Finally, I would like to share with you that I will be issuing my annual State of the City speech on Monday, February 15, at 8:30 a.m. at the Manpower International Headquarters. I am looking forward to sharing with you my vision for the future of the City.
Sincerely,

Mayor, City of Milwaukee
