Each year, Mayor Barrett sponsors the Holiday Care Package Drive for Soldiers to show appreciation for the men and women who sacrifice to keep our country safe. Here's one of the many messages from soldiers thanking everyone who gave in 2011.

Mayor Barrett,

Thank you very much for the thoughtful and timely care packages your office sent to the Wisconsin soldiers deployed to Kosovo! I’m the commander of the Medical evacuation detachment and am speaking for all of us when I say that the packages were very much appreciated—and filled with great stuff! I’m a Bay View resident and was particularly thrilled to see the Kelment’s Sausages as I live very near the Klement’s factory. The soldiers from other states expect those of us from Wisconsin to represent our state with meats and cheeses, and we were happy to be able to deliver! Our unit is headquartered out of West Bend and many are from the eastern part of the state. One of them is a full time fire fighter in the MFD.
