So you want to be an inspector? Got a sharp eye for the unusual? Know the codes? Here's a fun place to start.
The department of Neighborhood Services comes across some pretty strange and often serious situations involving buildings and property. The Building Code is designed to present a MINIMUM standards to protect the public and the owners in their property.
Use of the FUN CODE TESTS requires the Acrobat reader (Get ACROBAT Reader .) You can print out the test for easy reading using the Acrobat reader.

SOMETHING FOR THE KIDS!
Here is a special coloring book. Your children can learn some important lessons about fire safety while they try their hand at coloring. This 20 page coloring book features some playful characters SPLASH the dog and SAFERS the cat. Follow their antics as they show you things every youngster should know about how to "survive alive".

Teachers can call the SURVIVE ALIVE HOUSE and make arrangements for a tour with their class. Experience a simulated house fire and how to escape. Actual fire fighters will show the children what to do and how to do it. Targeted grades are 2nd and 5th Grade. Milwaukee Public Schools have preference. Call (414) 385-3240.
