Captain Jeffrey Point is currently the commander of District Six on Milwaukee's South Side. Previous to this assignment, he served as the commanding officer of the Investigative Management Division, where he oversaw all of the support services for the investigative divisions of MPD including forensics and crime scene units, AFIS, 10-print, criminal records, photography, prosecution liaison, extradition, and clerical support. He began his career with MPD in 1995 and served as a police officer at the Second District. He was promoted to detective in 2001 and served in the Violent Crimes, Sensitive Crimes and Robbery Divisions. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2005 and spent eight years in a variety of assignments including the Property Crimes, Sensitive Crimes and Homicide Divisions. In 2011 he transferred back into patrol and served as the day shift commander of the First District. He was promoted to captain in 2013 and served as the commander of Metropolitan Investigations until his current assignment in 2014. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from Concordia University- Wisconsin, and has completed the Northwestern University Supervision of Police Personnel course. He also attended the IACP Leadership in Police Organizations course and will represent MPD at the 2016 Senior Management in Policing course at Boston University.
