Charles Burki was appointed Information Systems Director in March 2011. He is responsible for a division that includes Information Technology, Records Management, Radio Communications, and Field Technology Unit.

During his 25 year career in Information Technology he has worked in both the Private and Public Sectors with experience in Software Development, Project Management, Technology Architecture & Integration, Business Process Re-Engineering, Information Security, Strategic Planning & Risk Assessment, Network Design & Implementation, IT Budgetary Planning, Procurement & Contract Management, Database Design & Management, Radio Communications Management, Operating System Administration and Data Center Management.

Prior to joining the Milwaukee Police Department, he worked 5 years for the City of Dallas in their Communications & Information Systems Department as Assistant Director over the Infrastructure Services and Applications Management Departments. His department supported all City of Dallas Business Units that included Dallas Police Department, Dallas Fire Department, Dallas Public Works, Dallas Water & Utilities, Aviation, City Attorney’s Office, Code Compliance, Court & Detentions Services and the Dallas Parks & Recreation Department.

Before working at the City of Dallas, he worked in the Private Sector holding positions as Operating System Administrator, Database Administrator, Computer Engineer, Sr. Software Engineer, Sr. Programmer/Analyst, Research Technology Engineer, IT Applications Manager, and Information Technology Director.

Burki holds a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering
