Captain Alex Ramirez has been a member of the Milwaukee Police Department since March of 1991. After graduating from the Police Academy he was assigned to patrol duties in District 6. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1997, Lieutenant in 2001, and Captain in 2017. Throughout his career he has been assigned to a number of department work locations, including the Narcotics Division/HIDTA, Districts 1, 2, 3, 7, Communications Division, Internal Affairs Division, Intelligence Fusion Center, and Office of Management Analysis and Planning..
Captain Ramirez holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Law Studies, and a master’s degree in Public Service specializing in Administration of Justice from Marquette University. While at Marquette, he also obtained a graduate certificate in Law Enforcement Leadership and Management. Captain Ramirez is a 2005 graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and 2017 graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police.
Captain Ramirez believes in partnering and strengthening relationships with the community and neighborhoods while working together in problem-solving, and in the control and prevention of crime.
