Mayor Barrett, Elected Officials, and Civic Leaders Voice Opposition to Senate Bill 324
March 7, 2014
Mayor Tom Barrett, along with other elected officials and civic leaders, will voice their opposition to Senate Bill 324, which would restrict the hours for in-person absentee voting.
Senate Bill 324 would restrict the hours for in-person absentee voting to 45 hours per week, regardless of the size of the municipality. Mayor Barrett has long been a supporter of fair access to elections and voter rights. Since the 2000 Presidential Election, the City of Milwaukee has seen a 700% increase in early voting.
A similar bill, Assembly Bill 54, has already passed the Assembly. Senate bill 324 is on the Senate calendar.
