City and ACTS Housing Join Forces to Address Foreclosure Crisis
April 10, 2014
Mayor Tom Barrett signed a resolution with ACTS Housing which begins a unique partnership between the two parties. This partnership is a part of Mayor Barrett’s ongoing Strong Neighborhoods Plan which launched in September of 2013 to combat the City’s foreclosure crisis.
Mayor Barrett, Common Council President Michael Murphy, and ACTS Housing Executive Director Carl Quindel were all on hand to sign the agreement which will allow ACTS to continue helping families buy tax foreclosed homes in the Milwaukee area. This initiative aligns with Mayor Barrett’s Strong Neighborhoods Plan which places emphasis on selling City-owned foreclosed properties.
ACTS will receive $200,000 in City support to assist with sales of City-owned properties, with goals of selling 35 homes this year, and 60 homes in 2015.
