The City of Milwaukee celebrates National Homeownership Month by building opportunities for Milwaukee homeowners and homebuyers

Milwaukee is a city of great neighborhoods and great neighborhoods create a strong sense of community and vitality. As part of Mayor Barrett’s STRONG Neighborhoods Plan, the city seeks responsible and sustainable homeowners for the purchase and renovation of city-owned tax-foreclosed homes.

“The city is strong when people live in neighborhoods.” said Mayor Barrett. “We want families to own these homes and with the $20,000 forgivable loan Homebuyer Assistance Program and the additional $500 ROOTS Landscaping Program Incentive, we can help make the dream of homeownership a reality for more Milwaukeeans.”

Today, Milwaukee’s housing market is in recovery and the City is working with many of our community partners to close the door on additional foreclosures. With the assistance and support from many of our community partners, such as Take Root Milwaukee and ACTS Housing, we will continue to work together to build a stronger Milwaukee and create opportunities for those who may not have had a chance to become homeowners through traditional means.

The City offers many resources below to assist you in your home search or with locating programs to help repair or improve your existing home.
