From our nationally rated paramedic program, Wisconsin's only self contained FEMA structural collapse team, one of Wisconsin's regional response Hazardous Materials Teams and a Dive Rescue team that protects the largest city on Lake Michigan. The Milwaukee Fire Department is a pool of highly skilled professionals who handle most of the emergency needs of the city ……and you thought we just fought fires!
During career opportunities and recruitment events, firefighters and/or members of the Fire and Police Commission are on hand to answer questions and give insight to the career of professional firefighting.
In a high school setting, firefighters come to your school and explain the intricacies of professional firefighting in a major metropolitan city. High school students who are already interested in the fire service may appreciate the Explorer Program which meets twice monthly. This particular program has to potential to shape the lives of young Milwaukeeans, by introducing them to the best career in the world.
