Adopt-A-Lot is a program that allows neighborhood groups and residents to use a lot when they are unwilling or unable to purchase the lot and do not wish to actively garden the site. Control of a vacant lot is allowed in exchange for its maintenance and upkeep.
Examples of neighborhood uses for Adopt-A-Lot:
- A block watch group wants to fence off vacant lots to improve their appearance and stop trespassing and dumping
- A community group would like to install an art piece or ornamental plants for beautification
- A resident would like to take control of the vacant lot next to their home for extra yard space
Adopt-A-Lot may be the perfect tool for you to improve your neighborhood!
