Adopt-A-Lot

Adopt-A-Lot is a program that allows neighborhood groups and residents to use a lot when they are unwilling or unable to purchase the lot and do not wish to actively garden the site. Control of a vacant lot is allowed in exchange for its maintenance and upkeep.

Examples of neighborhood uses for Adopt-A-Lot:

• A block watch group wants to fence off vacant lots to improve their appearance and stop trespassing and dumping
   
• A community group would like to install an art piece or ornamental plants for beautification
   
• A resident would like to take control of the vacant lot next to their home for extra yard space
