Sept. 25 - Excellent investigation by District 3 Officer Todd Smolen led to a September 24 arrest of a 20-year-old burglary suspect. Officer Smolen investigated a burglary on September 11 in the 3800 block of W. Galena where a 60” flat screen television was taken from a house. Realizing there was a good chance for evidence recovery at the scene, Officer Smolen asked for assistance from technicians assigned to the Identification Section who recovered fingerprints believed to be the suspects’. Officer Smolen later received a tip that the suspects took the television to a house near N. 38th and W. Cherry. He located the television in the basement and more fingerprints were processed.

Two suspects were identified by the fingerprints, and on September 24 Officer Smolen spotted one suspect, Dontrell Dolton, while he was on patrol. Officer Smolen arrested Dolton. Officers are still seeking a second juvenile suspect.
