Milwaukee Police Department Office of Media and Communications
Oct. 9 - Milwaukee Police arrested a 27-year-old Milwaukee man after he barricaded himself in his northwest side residence and threatened to shoot officers. Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment in the 8100 block of W. Hampton Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. on October 9. When the officers arrived the suspect, who had three young children with him, armed himself with a handgun and held one of his children while threatening to shoot the officers.
The officers called for additional resources, and members of the Neighborhood Task Force’s Tactical Enforcement Unit and negotiators from the Criminal Investigation Bureau responded. The negotiators maintained dialogue with the suspect for several hours, and when it appeared as if the suspect had fallen asleep the tactical officers entered the apartment. When the suspect struggled with the officers an electronic control device was used to subdue him. He was arrested, and all three children were found unharmed and reunited with their mother.
The suspect will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
