Suspect Caught Trying to Steal Car in Riverwest

Aug. 18 - Alert bicycle patrol officers from District 5 arrested a 19-year-old Milwaukee man as he tried to steal a car in Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood overnight. Officers Jamie Rosado and Christopher Ottaway were on patrol in the area of N. Fratney Street and W. Locust Street at 11:30 p.m. on August 17 when they saw a man acting suspiciously. They followed the man to the 2800 block of N. Fratney Street where they saw the suspect’s legs sticking out of a parked 1996 Toyota Camry. The suspect ran when he saw the officers, but he was quickly arrested a block away. The officers found that the suspect was using a screwdriver to try to steal the car. The suspect will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
